Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević announced that Montenegro will close two negotiation chapters, Chapters 1 and 12, tomorrow.

- We have just received a message from Brussels, and this is a nice way to conclude today’s discussion. Chapter 1, which concerns Free Movement of Goods, and Chapter 12, which concerns Food Safety and Veterinary and Phytosanitary Policy. I believe that when we talk about the achievements of this Government and Montenegro, they just keep coming. So, Europe Now - today and tomorrow - Gorčević said in the Montenegrin Parliament today.

Montenegro has so far provisionally closed 21 out of a total of 33 negotiation chapters.

The closure of five chapters is planned at the intergovernmental conference scheduled for later this month, as part of efforts to achieve the goal of closing all negotiation chapters by the end of this year.

The European Commission plans to hold the final intergovernmental conferences in December, when chapters covering financial services, regional policy and coordination of structural instruments, as well as the environment and climate change, are expected to be closed.

The remaining chapters are also expected to be closed at that time. These include Foreign, Security and Defence Policy; Financial and Budgetary Provisions; Judiciary and Fundamental Rights (Chapter 23); Justice, Freedom and Security (Chapter 24); and Institutions and Other Issues (Chapters 34 and 35).
