Retrial in the „Tunnel“ case postponed

The retrial in the case known as the „Tunnel“ case was postponed today at the request of the prosecutor handling the case, Marko Mugoša.

In a written submission to the court, the prosecutor informed the panel that he was on annual leave and requested that today's hearing be adjourned and rescheduled at the earliest possible date. The court granted the request and scheduled the next hearing for 13 August at 9:00 a.m.

The „Tunnel“ case concerns the excavation of an underground tunnel from the basement of a rented apartment to the evidence depot of the High Court in Podgorica, which was discovered in September 2023. The tunnel, approximately 30 metres long, enabled a break-in to the court's evidence storage facility, where evidence from numerous criminal cases - including weapons, drugs, and other seized items - is kept.

The High Court in Bijelo Polje previously overturned the acquittal issued by the Basic Court in Podgorica and remanded the case for a retrial.
