Wildfires under continuous monitoring, aerial assistance requested in four municipalities

The relevant services are continuously monitoring the situation and taking further measures to contain the fires. According to data from the Ministry of Interior’s 112 Operational Communication Centre, the fires in Ponikvice, in the Danilovgrad area, and in Crni Vrh and Maganik in the municipality of Kolašin are under control, while the fire in the Pandurica area of Pljevlja has been contained, the Ministry of the Interior said.

Active fires have been reported in the Podgorica area, in Kržanja in Kuči, as well as in the municipalities of Cetinje - Bijele Poljane and Lastva; Nikšić - Bogetići, Bijele Poljane, Krstac and Krnovo, in front of the tunnel on Mount Vojnik; Šavnik - Krnja Jela-Bare, Kruševice, Timar and Tušina; and Plužine - Pivska Planina and Kapavica.

- To ensure a more effective response, the protection and rescue services of Nikšić, Šavnik, Plužine and Kolašin have requested the deployment of aircraft to fight fires in the areas of Bogetići, Gradačke Poljane, Višnjića Do, Tušina, Kapavica and Crni Vrh - the Ministry of Interior said.

The ministry said that, through the 112 Operational Communication Centre of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, it remains in constant communication with local protection and rescue services, while available resources are being directed towards areas where assistance is most needed.

- The relevant services remain on the ground and continue their activities, with a particular focus on protecting the population, buildings and infrastructure - the statement concluded.
