Radulović: Four lanes of the Tivat- Jaz boulevard will be under asphalt by the end of May

The main works on the construction of the Tivat - Jaz boulevard must be completed before the start of the summer tourist season - said Minister of Maritime Affairs and coordinator of the Ministry of Transport, Filip Radulović, in the Parliament of Montenegro.

Responding to a question from MP Mihailo Anđušić (Democratic Party of Socialists) about who would be responsible if the project is not completed, Radulović recalled that a third shift had been introduced to further intensify the works, with the goal of having the entire roadway, all 16 kilometers, under asphalt by this summer.

- The goal is for all four traffic lanes to be operational by the end of May, which will enable smooth traffic flow, bearing in mind the increased traffic intensity expected. This is a complex project, especially due to the fact that, after construction began, there arose a need to relocate existing and build new utility infrastructure along the route, which required intensive coordination among multiple institutions and local governments - Radulović stated.

Anđušić said that the minister stating it must be finished does not mean it will be.

- I believe it is a matter of basic responsibility to say by what exact date all four lanes at that location will be completed - Anđušić said, adding that he expected a more detailed answer.

Radulović said that all four lanes would be under asphalt by May 31.

- The roadway will be safe and passable, and people will be able to travel without disruption. The final layer will not be applied on every section, but the road will be passable and safe. We will not complete all signaling and electrical installations by the end of May, but we will have all four lanes by then. Why wasn’t a third shift introduced earlier? I have only been leading the Ministry of Transport since early February. I have accelerated everything I could since taking over coordination - Radulović emphasized.

MP Adrijan Vuksanović (Croatian Civic Initiative) recalled that a European Union–Western Balkans Summit will be held in Tivat in June.

- This event is of great importance for Montenegro and will gather presidents and prime ministers of all EU member states, as well as top officials of EU institutions - Vuksanović stressed.

In response to his question whether Montenegro will be ready to host a large number of high-level delegations, considering that many road infrastructure projects are still unfinished, Radulović emphasized that by the end of May, half of the boulevard from Tivat towards Budva will have the final layer, while the rest will have two base layers.

He reiterated that this road route will be safe.
