Grbović at the Winter Olympics: I will give my maximum to worthily represent myself and my country

Montenegro’s representative in Nordic skiing at the Winter Olympic Games Aleksandar Grbović will compete on Tuesday morning at 9:15 a.m. in the 1.5-kilometer sprint using the classical technique, and on Friday at 11:45 a.m. in the 10-kilometer race in the freestyle technique, and he is ready for both appearances – he said in the television program „Srećan dan“ on Television E.
At the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, taking place from February 6 to 22, Montenegro has two representatives - Branislav Peković in alpine skiing and Aleksandar Grbović in Nordic skiing.
Nordic skiing is essentially running on skis, Grbović says, so Nordic skiers can be described as runners on skis.
- I’m here in the Olympic Village, in my room. Today I have an official training session for tomorrow’s competition. From 10 to 12 I’ll be on the course for final preparations, the official training, to test the skis and check the track one last time. Tomorrow at 9:15 we are at the start - the 1.5-kilometer sprint using the classical technique, the second competition at these Olympic Games - Grbović said.
He recalled that on Friday he will compete in the 10-kilometer freestyle race at 11:45 a.m., and he hopes there will be enough time between Tuesday and Friday to rest and prepare for the next race, and to give his maximum and worthily represent himself and his country.
Grbović also recalled that he participated in the Winter Olympic Games four years ago in Beijing, at that time as an eighteen-year-old.
- Every Olympic Games is a phenomenal experience. It is the dream of every athlete and the biggest competition one can experience. That Olympic spirit, the magic of the Olympic Village, and sharing dining halls, restaurants, rooms, and hotels with the best athletes in the world is truly incredible. In Beijing we had some minor issues with the coronavirus, things were quite closed off and everyone was isolated, but it was still nice. It’s hard to compare Italy and China. Here we are, in a way, isolated - we are in Predazzo, representatives of three disciplines, while other sports are in Milan, Cortina, and Livigno. So here it feels like a world championship in Nordic disciplines. Still, it’s beautiful and I’m satisfied with everything so far, and I’m ready for my performances tomorrow and on Friday - Grbović concluded.
